Clear up misconceptions surrounding different curl patterns: There's a lot of anti-black rhetoric throughout society and in the natural hair community, leading to the stigma around type 4 coils because of how close it is to afrocentirsm. Because of that, a lot of people believe that type 4 coils are untamable and hard to style, making looser curl patterns more desirable and catered to.

We must also work towards respecting cultural hair styles and acknowledge the value it has for a specific ethnic group. Too often we see non black people appropriate afrocentric hairstyles like afros or box braids, without regarding the cultural importance behind it. We've seen the media rename our hairstyles and turn it into trends, whereas when black people wear those afrocentric styles we get stereotyped or punsihed, while non black people
